Waitomo is world famous for its glowworm caves, Black Water Rafting, cave abseiling (rappelling), cave eco-tours and landscapes; Waitomo being in the heart of the King Country is an adventure wonderland easily reached from Auckland, Rotorua and Taupo.

Otorohanga and Te Kuiti are nearby and are friendly country towns with, shopping and dining experiences. On the west Coast are the charming seaside villages of Kawhia, Marokopa and Mokau which all have stunning beaches.

Waitomo Caves and the "King Country" are in the central western North Island, south of Auckland & Hamilton and west of Rotorua & Taupo. Auckland is less than a 3 hour drive, Hamilton 1 hour, Rotorua & Taupo just over 2 hours.
